The Perisurg Assistant performs under the supervision and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, those duties to assist in the safe treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures and ages of patients served in the unit. Job Details Responsibilities: Assist RN with direct patient care with attention to personal hygiene, safety, comfort and skin care while anticipating the needs of the patient and family. Responsible for preparing patients for meals and assisting with feeding as directed. Distributes water and other nourishments as directed. Assists and/or transports patients in a timely and safe manner. Collects and transports specimens maintaining standards mandated by regulatory agencies. Demonstrates purposeful rounding utilizing key words as defined by models of care. Considers call bells as a priority and answers them immediately. Demonstrates caring behaviors. Communicates appropriate information to RN re: pain, patient condition and communicates information back to patient as needed. Responds immediately to emergency situations as directed or trained. Accepts responsibility for unit environmental maintenance, equipment cleanliness, and inventory par levels and ordering (as trained for hygrade, staples, lawson). Follows hospital policy for the appropriate cleaning/disinfecting and maintaining of all patient care equipment, stretchers, chairs, computers, organization and cleaning of supply closets. Supports administrative decision and changes within the department. Demonstrates knowledge of specific unit/department performance initiatives including outcomes, plan for improvement. Maintains professional competency and seeks opportunity for self-growth. Maintains Continuing Education hours relevant to the clinical area. Maintains accountability in completing required hospital and unit based competencies by required due dates. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred. Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience preferred; Ability to interpret medical terminology. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Salary Range USD $26.27 - USD $39.42 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
