    Description

    As an Underwriting Operations Team Lead, you’ll oversee a team of underwriters and manage the day-to-day operations of an underwriting unit. You’ll ensure service levels are met, underwriting quality is maintained, and staff are supported in delivering excellent results. This role combines leadership, risk analysis, and process improvement in a dynamic environment.

    Job Responsibilities

    Lead & Develop Teams

     

    Supervise, coach, and mentor underwriting staff.

     

    Manage performance, provide training, and support career growth.

     

    Oversee staffing activities including interviewing and onboarding.

     

    Guide Underwriting Activities

     

    Ensure underwriters operate within authority and company guidelines.

     

    Review referrals, post-bind reviews, and policy transactions (endorsements, rewrites, cancellations, renewals, loss control).

     

    Support underwriting quality and profitability through effective risk analysis.

     

    Drive Operational Excellence

     

    Monitor workflows to ensure service levels are consistently met.

     

    Recommend improvements to underwriting processes and guidelines.

     

    Partner with leadership to achieve production and profitability goals.

     

    Support projects, system enhancements, and new initiatives.

     

    Ensure Compliance & Quality

     

    Maintain compliance with insurance laws and regulations.

     

    Address regulatory inquiries and resolve customer issues.

     

    Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and customer focus.

     

    Collaborate & Adapt

     

    Work cross-functionally with other teams to meet business objectives.

     

    Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing guidelines, technology, and strategies.

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree required.

     

    2+ years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience.

     

    Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
