    Position: Insurance Verification Specialist

     

    Schedule: Monday through Friday - First Shift

     

    Dress Code: Business Casual

     

    Contract Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled Insurance Verification Specialist to support a busy healthcare team. This role is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, securing authorizations, and ensuring accurate patient registration and billing. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and experience working with EMR systems like EPIC.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Verify insurance coverage and benefits using payer portals and internal systems

    + Obtain referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications as required

    + Collect and confirm patient information for billing, compliance, and clinical documentation

    + Estimate patient responsibility for services (deductibles, co-pays, non-covered items)

    + Maintain accurate documentation and communicate updates across departments

    + Update patient demographics and ensure timely data entry into EMR systems

    + Collaborate with patients, families, and internal teams to resolve issues

    + Forward necessary documentation to relevant departments

    + Maintain error logs and browser records accurately

    Qualifications:

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification, prior authorization, medical billing, or related roles in a healthcare or hospital setting

    + Familiarity with payer portals and insurance processes

    + Strong computer skills and attention to detail

    + Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems preferred

    + High School Diploma or GED required

    + Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
