    The Help Desk Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the technology help desk at all campuses, ensuring that technical issues and support needs are resolved efficiently and professionally.

     

    Examples of Duties

     

    + Manages Service Desk function by monitoring Help Desk telephones, email, voicemail, and trouble-ticket reporting system, and delegates troubleshooting responsibilities to designated technical staff

    + Coordinates support for desktop operations for academic and administrative computers

    + Manages day-to-day operations of the help desk functions at all campuses and sites

    + Oversees training or performs cross-training of designated support technicians at all campuses and sites

    + Oversees and supports installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting of all software, hardware and audio-visual equipment

    + Assists with assigned system administration tasks such as but not limited to Active Directory and Microsoft 365.

    + Maintains hardware and software inventory

    + Maintains and reports statistics on support requests and resolutions

    + Provides statistical data for assessing department-wide performance and productivity

    + Assists with telecommunications and network connectivity issues

    + Schedules shift coverage of department technicians at all campuses and sites

    + Communicates procedures verbally and in writing as well as assists in troubleshooting problems with other Information Technology Services staff

    + Researches, evaluates, and recommends hardware, software or audio-visual equipment as needed

    + Sets up, assists, and breaks down college-related events at all campuses.

    + Disposes of hardware in conjunction with the receiving department and other related departments as needed

    + Supports ITS with budgets including entering requisitions and maintaining accurate balances.

    + Assists with management of all College telephony including fax, cell, PBX and voicemail

    + Participates in professional development through internal and external training opportunities

    + Performs related duties as assigned

    Typical Qualifications

    Education:

    + Associate’s degree with a minimum of eighteen months working with PCs and MACs in an Active Directory Environment

    + Currently pursuing A+ and Security+ certifications with ability for completion within twelve months

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred

    Experience:

    + Significant experience in Help Desk support, desktop/laptop support, and desktop software installation

    + Demonstrated experience in hardware and software applications including, servicing and troubleshooting

    + Experience managing a help desk preferred

    Competencies and Skills:

    + Demonstrated understanding of computer networks

    + Demonstrated ability to work independently

    + Excellent technical, analytical, collaborative and project management skills

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    + Good leadership and motivational skills

     

    Supplemental Information

    Terms of Employment:

    This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
