Description
Buffalo Hearing & Speech is currently hiring Full time, Part time, and Fee for Service (paid per session) Speech Language Pathologists at our Amherst speech clinic. Are you looking to supplement your current job or pick up a flexible SLP position? Fee for Service -Create your own schedule - choose when and how many cases you will see! The SLP is responsible for conducting therapy sessions and/or evaluations for children and/or adults.
Flexible hours available between 8am–6pm, with strong preference for availability between 3–6pm, Monday–Thursday .Earn a rate of $39.50 per 30 minute session in our speech clinic! Please note that clinic employee are required to have an annual flu shot (or be granted a medical exemption).
BHSC also offers a free continuing education series to employees and our FFS employees are eligible to accrue paid sick leave.
Job Summary:
Speech-Language Pathologist will provide high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services in our outpatient clinic setting. You’ll work with pediatric and/or adult clients with a variety of communication and swallowing disorders in a supportive, interdisciplinary environment. lt
Essential Functions:
+ Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and/or swallowing disorders in pediatric and/or adult clients. (For Fee For Service employees determine what types of clients and ages you will work with based on your competencies and experience).
+ Schedule clients from the waiting list according to SLP availability following BHSC scheduling procedures.
+ Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, patient/family goals, and evidence-based practices.
+ Provide direct therapy to clients, typically in 30 minute sessions 1 or 2x/week, utilizing appropriate interventions to improve communication and/or swallowing function.
+ Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and self-audit compliance tracking in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.
+ Collaborate with clients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to support holistic care and carryover of strategies across environments as needed.
+ Educate clients and families on communication and/or swallowing disorders, treatment goals, and home program recommendations.
+ Monitor and reassess clients’ progress, modifying goals and treatment approaches as needed.
+ Maintain timely and accurate records in the electronic medical record system (EMR).
+ As requested, you may be asked to participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and clinic initiatives and will receive compensation.
+ Adhere to ethical and professional standards as defined by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), state licensure regulations, and clinic policies.
+ Allow graduate or undergraduate observations of evaluations or therapy sessions as requested by supervisor.
+ Opportunities may be available to supervise graduate student clinicians or clinical fellows if desired.
+ Complete any compliance or required program trainings as assigned.

Required Education Requirements:
Master’s degree from University/College of accredited speech language pathology program
Required License/Registration/ Certification:
+ New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
Physical Requirements:
+ Physical actions may include, but are not limited to; bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, printing, crawling, and running.
+ Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
+ Frequent sitting/ standing and when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
