POSITION PURPOSE
The APEX Program Director will, under general supervision of the UW Autism Center Director of Clinical Services, work among a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech-language pathologists, early intervention providers, medical professionals, faculty, graduate students, and pre- and post-doctoral fellows. This position will oversee the operational, educational, clinical, and research components of the APEX Program at the UW Autism Center (UWAC). This position is Full Time (100% FTE). The position requires 100% FTE for the summer months but if an applicant prefers 50% for the academic year (approx. September to June) this can be arranged.
The APEX Program Director position includes supervising the annual APEX Summer Camp, providing clinical services to youth and families, clinical training for graduate and undergraduate students in evidence-based intervention, behavioral support and management, coaching parents and other professionals, and consulting in the community. It also includes program design and implementation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advocacy for children and families affected by autism spectrum disorders.
This position will be responsible for supporting a high-profile clinical program which provides treatment for autistic and neurodivergent children and siblings. The candidate must be aware of current research and new treatment approaches and be able to integrate multi-disciplinary reports and recommendations into clinical decisions and treatment planning. The APEX Program Director will also provide parent education and training within the context of existing clinical programming & will support the recruitment and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students annually, including local, national, and international students, as well as faculty and other master's and doctoral-level professionals to serve the APEX Summer Camp program. This position will also have supervision of one salaried APEX Program Support Lead.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
_PROGRAM DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT_
+ Consult, collaborate and plan meetings with multidisciplinarypractitioners through the UW Autism Center to aid in program development and meet the needs of campers.
+ Lead and organize program development tasks.
+ Maintain the clinical foundation and structures related to serving autistic children; ensure current evidence-based intervention content is implemented in the summer program.
+ Manage the logistics of camp set up. For example, ensure an adequate site, contact vendors, develop marketing and recruitment materials in collaboration with UWAC staff.
+ Lead and collaborate with UWAC team to implement the program.
+ Optional: conduct research on program effectiveness and other topics of interest.
_STAFF RECRUITMENT, MANAGEMENT, TRAINING AND MENTORING_
+ Lead staff hiring for APEX Summer Camp. Recruit doctoral and master's level clinicians, graduate, and undergraduate students from local, national, and international institutions of higher education.
+ Directly train staff in evidence-based intervention techniques, including data tracking, social skills coaching/training, and de-escalation strategies.
+ Provide camp staff with guidance and mentorship related to professional development, applying to graduate level or professional programs. Facilitate research opportunities and provide letters of recommendation for graduate and post-camp job applications.
_SERVICE TO CHILDREN WITH_** **_AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER_** **_(_** **_ASD) AND THEIR FAMILIES_
+ Recruit children and families to participate in the APEX Summer Camp; conduct screening calls and in-person family interviews to determine appropriate fit for camp.
+ Provide clinical consultation to families regarding a range of clinical issues in the home and school settings; involve client's families in counseling and home program activities.
+ Provide consultation to community providers who work with autistic children to ensure continuity of care for the child and family; provide consultation to other UW Autism Center clinicians.
+ Provide education and training to parents and caregivers regarding evidence-based practices for promoting optimal development of social and behavioral skills.
+ Keep appropriate records of services provided and coordinate with the billing office regarding services and meet billable expectations when applicable.
+ Complete initial client evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.
+ Maintain appropriate service records and report service statistics for documentation and billing purposes.
+ Monitor and manage budget for the APEX program in collaboration with UWAC Director of Operations and Director.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education or related health care field and 3-4 years of relevant work experiencein working with school-age autism children and/or experience leading programs.
_Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration_ _._
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Graduate-level degree in psychology, education, (Ph.D., MA, MS, PsyD, MSW, SLP) or related health care field (e.g., ABA, OT, PT).
+ Experience leading summer camp programs.
+ Candidates must have a WA state professional license in their field of practice.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$69,720.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$104,568.00 annual
