    This position will develop and execute an effective statewide outreach and education program that focuses on ice safety. The program will target traditional users of frozen waters, educate people who are not familiar with frozen water, and find ways to remove the barrier to participation in recreational opportunities by providing a better understanding of ice safety. The broad program goal is to contribute to the reduction in the number of ice related incidents and fatalities in the state. The position maintains and reviews safety curriculum and assists with administration and outreach while providing support to the boat and water safety program.

     

    This position has a flexible work arrangement and may be eligible to telework on a part-time basis which is subject to change. If approved, the employee would be required to complete a telework agreement.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two years of professional experience successfully developing and implementing outreach and communication efforts, campaigns, and/or programs. A bachelor’s degree in natural resources, marketing, communications, public affairs or a related field may substitute for 1 year of experience.

     

    Ability to write and communicate in a clear, accurate, and error-free manner sufficient to convey information to internal and external stakeholders, including media, government and non-government partners, local officials, educators, subject-matter experts, and customers/readers.

     

    Ability to review, interpret and present information to recommend appropriate communication, advertising and marketing strategies.

     

    Public speaking experience sufficient to develop and deliver effective speeches, talking points and strategies.

     

    Experience using social media as part of a professional large-scale marketing or outreach campaigns.

     

    Experience using Microsoft Office products sufficient to prepare and deliver essential communications.

     

    Project management skills sufficient to communicate, organize, and manage multiple projects.

     

    Ability to efficiently multi-task in an atmosphere of competing priorities.

     

    Human relations skills sufficient to effectively work with diverse groups and gain cooperation of internal/external partners.

    Preferred Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree in natural resources, marketing, communications, public affairs or a related field.

     

    Experience creating and implementing communications plans for large and small-scale efforts.

    Additional Requirements

    This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record.
