The role will work closely with other BJC departments including Treasury.
This is a flexible position, but does require someone to be in Missouri or Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Provides planning, consulting, and oversight of corporate tax reporting and compliance for BJC HealthCare and affiliated organizations. Additionally, this position is responsible for planning, preparation and review of all corporate income, informational and other returns for federal, state and foreign taxing jurisdictions as well as monitoring various activities that could impact tax issues. This highly technical position regularly interacts with all levels of personnel throughout BJC as well as minimal business partners of BJC HealthCare.
Responsibilities
+ Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
+ Coordinates the completion of schedules and financial analyses for use in preparing BJC, BJC Pension and affiliate Form(s) 990-T, 1065, 1120 (Federal) State and foreign filings for nonprofit, for profit corporations and joint ventures. Analyzes more than 200 investment partnership Schedule K-1s including oil and gas investments of publicly traded partnerships for BJC Health System and BJC Pension Trust. Prepares Trust income and expenses schedules for use in preparing Form 990-T and estimated 40 or more State returns. Evaluates tax refund opportunities for BJC and pursues claims for refund as appropriate. Meets or exceeds internal and external deadlines for submission of tax returns and other compliance filings.
+ Assists in preparing workpapers related to annual financial statement disclosures and consolidation of BJC HealthCare entities for audited financial statement disclosures. This function includes ASC 740 (formerly FIN 48) analysis for monitoring uncertain tax positions. Responsible for maintaining documentation to support positions taken on all BJC tax returns including those related to ASC 740, deferred tax assets, valuation adjustments required to adequately reflect any deferred tax assets (liabilities) and other areas of tax risk to BJC HealthCare.
+ Builds effective working relationships with BJC Finance, Treasury and Corporate Compliance Departments to enhance tax reporting of corporate income, employment, sales, consumer use, excise and other taxes. Mentors Treasury staff gathering information to be used when preparing BJC tax returns to ensure consistency of partnership data used for return disclosures.
+ Creates effective work plans that include identifying the correct resources, processes and software necessary to prepare BJC returns more efficiently. Considers a broad range of internal /external factors when making decisions using information from , Guidestar searches, and competitor sites. Recognizes strategic opportunities for tax savings, refunds and credits.
+ Maintains appropriate tax policies and procedures including monitoring all corporate activities that would impact tax issues. Presents relevant tax issues to tax manager and delivers time sensitive materials to finance and development personnel to assist in tax compliance efforts.
