Opportunity
Candidates will have a strong desire to build and cultivate business relationships, be skilled at problem-solving, and provide outstanding service to clients. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated, organized, dynamic, upbeat, personable, innovative, team-oriented, and results-driven individual. You should have a strong track record of new business development, customer service, and sales operations. The business you will be responsible for will primarily target new retail & foodservice distribution customers, while supporting corporate and wholesale business. This role reports directly to the Director of Business Development, working most frequently with Distribution Sales, Procurement, and Financial/Operational cross-functional partners.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
+ Gain new distribution, placements, and prospects throughout the assigned territory & customer portfolio
+ Pursuing growth targets and initiatives within the assigned region, leveraging and managing pre-existing relationships
+ Driving sales to exceed budget for units, gross profits, prospecting targets & additional KPIs
+ Assisting sales leadership with key accounts’ merchandising reset requests regularly
+ Forecasting and promotional planning for assigned accounts & new business
+ Communicating competitive intelligence and innovative opportunities regularly
+ Coordinating efficiencies in all facets of sales operations for the customer base
+ Participating in strategic projects as needed in support of executive team leadership
+ Frequent order entry (both in office and remotely), lead implementation of new Online Order Entry tool
+ Communicating price updates, managing price lists & promotions for key accounts
+ Proactively communicate the weekly calendar & field market activity
+ Participating in sales-related meetings, trade shows, and company events
+ Collaborate with Buyers on pricing strategy/tactics to exceed route profitability & GP targets
Requirements
+ 3+ years of sales experience, preferably in perishable foods with a network of customer relationships, Produce/Retail a plus
+ Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
+ Working knowledge of perishable foods distribution business, preferably produce
+ Must be located within the Metro NY-NJ-CT marketplace, hiring multiple regions
+ PC skills and proficiency with MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
+ Must be willing to learn new systems and software to support the business as needed
+ Minimum of 70% of time spent working in the field, 1x/week team meeting in Hunts Point
+ Fluent in Spanish, bilingual (preferred)
SCHEDULING AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to our Bronx headquarters and primarily working remotely in assigned region throughout the week. Your work schedule will predominantly be Monday-Friday, starting at 8am; however, order taking on weekends may be required as business demands.
The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including Medical benefits, a 401 (k) Retirement plan, and Paid Time Off. Base salary plus bonus potential. Base salary is commensurate with experience.
