    Job Description

    PURPOSE:

    To operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    * Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process.

    * Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment

    * Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.

    * Overseeing accumulation and shipments of hazardous waste, water sampling, and handling of acids and bases.

    * Ability to be on call to respond to emergencies and breakdowns and the facility.

    * Maintain open communication with Plant Management regarding the treatment process as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvement to these systems.

    EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    * High school diploma or GED.

    * South Carolina Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator"s Class B Physical / Chemical License required along with a minimum of four (4) years on the job training.

    INITIATIVE AND JUDGEMENT:

    Requires considerable judgment in planning and performing work where only general methods have been established. Must be alert and able to react instantly in emergency situations such as power failure, fire, pump failures, etc. Often works with little supervision.
