This Manager, Employee Relations position reports directly to the Sr. Manager, HR Services. This role provides guidance to leadership regarding employee relations matters and oversees the internal investigations into employee concerns and complaints and provides recommendations for resolution. This role leads a team of ER Partners who serve as the primary contact for addressing employee concerns and conflicts and manages the internal investigation process to handle internal investigations with dignity and compassion. This position will collaborate and partner with the Corporate and Field HR Business Partners, HR Centers of Expertise, and the legal department on internal investigations. This role works closely with the Human Resources Solution Center and will assist that team with employee calls as needed.
What You'll Do
Leadership
+ Exercise sound judgment and critical thinking to develop solutions and recommendations during internal investigations. Manage individual cases and review investigations conducted by direct reports, providing guidance as needed.
+ Apply deep knowledge of HR programs and policies to ensure consistency and quality in investigations. Clearly communicate company policies and help employees understand potential violations and available resources.
+ Use discretion and professionalism to address and resolve sensitive issues, reinforcing trust in the company’s approach to HR investigations.
+ Serve as a resourceful and creative problem solver, supporting employees and direct reports through complex or unique investigative scenarios. Provide constructive feedback to enhance investigative practices.
+ Monitor and review employee calls as needed. Coach and mentor the direct report, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to develop and implement Employee Relations strategies that promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
+ Stay current on HR best practices, procedures, and applicable labor laws.
Employee Relations
+ Resolve sensitive employee relations matters in alignment with company policies and legal requirements. Investigate and address employee concerns, identifying root causes and escalating when appropriate.
+ Conduct thorough investigations using effective techniques and ensure accurate documentation of findings.
+ Gather and analyze all relevant information, including employee interviews and staff reports, escalating issues to appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
+ Interpret and apply company policies and provide guidance on issues such as harassment, discrimination, wage and hour concerns, and other civil rights matters.
+ Summarize complex investigations and provide well-reasoned recommendations to the Legal department.
+ Collaborate with district leaders, field HRBPs, and Legal to ensure comprehensive case management. Follow up with leadership on action plans and training as needed. Provide counseling and draft performance management documentation when appropriate.
+ Manage ADA accommodation requests by engaging in interactive processes with employees, managers, and other HR team members to develop practical solutions.
+ Design and deliver Employee Relations training sessions for employees and leaders.
HR Solution Center
+ Act as backup manager to the Human Resources Solution Center. Understand Genesys Purecloud and be able to pull data from the system.
+ Be available to access the queues, answer incoming questions and provide guidance as needed.
Reporting
+ Prepare and analyze quarterly reports on Employee Relations and ADA activity.
+ Review findings with HR Business Partners and identify trends and future ER initiatives.
What You'll Need
+ Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
+ 3-5 years of Management Experience.
+ Broad HR Generalist knowledge and expertise within the areas of Employment Law and regulations, Leaves of Absence, verifications services, benefits, performance management, and employee relations. 7+ years of HR experience.
+ Strong communications, both written and oral, and strong customer service orientation.
+ Can self-start and maintain a positive, upbeat and helpful attitude.
+ Be a team player who strives for excellence.
+ Flexibility with scheduling to cover North American time zones.
+ Must have attention to detail.
+ Call center experience a plus.
+ Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where multi-tasking is a must while continuing to maintain a positive, constructive and professional demeanor. Ability to operate and advise in "gray" areas.
+ Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with discretion.
+ Proven experience in Employee Relations and performance management.
+ General knowledge of MS Office with proficiency in MS Excel. At least 3 years of HRMS database exp., or other relational database experience.
+ PHR/SPHR preferred.
+ Represent Robert Half and the HR Department by exhibiting a calm, welcoming, and friendly presence for all new hires, employees, leaders and visitors.
+ Must be a resourceful and creative problem solver. While things may go wrong, you should be looking forward to anticipating areas of concern or risk. When unanticipated issues come up at exactly the wrong time, as they tend to do, you should be world class at quickly and constructively working with members of the team and other departments to find solutions.
+ Must be able to work with highly confidential data, protect the integrity of the investigation process and privacy of those involved and maintain confidentiality.
+ Strong written and verbal communications skills.
+ Impartiality - ensure that investigation is conducted impartially and without bias.
The typical annual salary range for this position is shown below and is negotiable depending upon experience and location. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
$101,000.00 - $155,000.00
