    Job Title: Distribution Engineer Job Description

     

    Join our team as a Distribution Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in connecting new homes and commercial businesses to the energy grid or upgrading existing connections to distribution grids. This position offers a blend of field and remote work, providing flexibility and the opportunity to work from home when not conducting field inspections.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform field work by visiting assigned sites to take notes, pictures, and measurements.

    + Develop electrical drawings and analysis to determine necessary materials for each site.

    + Conduct engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, cable pulling, and transformer sizing.

    + Create a Bill of Materials (BOM) using SAP software to guide the utility company's field installation team.

    + Collaborate with supervisors, peer groups, and customers to exchange or present factual information.

    + Ensure all work complies with standard practices and procedures to minimize delays in schedules.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or an Associate's Degree with relevant experience.

    + 0-2 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree.

    + Experience with CAD tools like AutoCAD or Microstation.

    + Ability to perform engineering and design tasks related to power delivery and distribution.

    + Strong problem-solving skills and judgment to resolve issues and make routine recommendations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) is a plus.

    + Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, and Microstation.

    + Fundamentals of Engineer certification is advantageous.

    + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

    + Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams with a positive attitude.

    Work Environment

    This role involves a mix of field inspections and remote work, with territories open in Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Flint, and West Branch. Candidates must be comfortable in both field and office settings, able to lift 20 pounds, and walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces. Professional dress and demeanor are expected. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Walled Lake, Michigan.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
