Job Title: Secretary of Interior (SOI) Qualified Archaeologist Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Archaeologist to join our team, responsible for performing various cultural resource surveys and archaeological tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for archaeology and a willingness to work in diverse outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct Phase I Cultural Resource Surveys, including both Pedestrian and Shovel Test Surveys.

+ Perform archaeological monitoring to ensure compliance with regulations.

+ Carry out Phase II NRHP Eligibility Testing to assess the significance of archaeological sites.

+ Engage in Phase III Data Recovery to document and preserve valuable archaeological data.

+ Process, catalogue, and analyze laboratory materials to contribute to ongoing research.

Essential Skills

+ Minimum of a MA or MS in Anthropology or a related field.

+ Previous archaeological field experience or completion of an accredited field school.

+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.

+ Ability to handle problems with several variables in standardized situations.

+ Basic understanding of computers, general hardware, and software.

+ Logical approach to problem solving.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Must have reliable transportation and enjoy working outdoors.

+ Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed.

+ Capability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

+ Experience in site monitoring and accurate record keeping.

Work Environment

This role requires working primarily outdoors in various weather conditions. The work involves physical activities such as lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds. Employees should be prepared for overtime and weekend work as project needs arise. A logical and systematic approach to problem-solving and data analysis is essential. Dress code is casual, suitable for fieldwork.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
