The Opportunity

As a leader in digital financial services, our customer and employee experiences run on data. We depend on the Ally analytics community to fuel these journeys and to help nearly 10,000 leaders and employees make countless data-driven decisions every day. Our analytics community has hundreds of analytics professionals across Ally in communities focused on business analytics, data science, R, Python, Power BI and more and continues to grow every day.

Reporting to the Manager of the Portfolio Analytics team, this position’s primary responsibilities will include executing quantitative analysis and problem solving to develop in-depth business-relevant insights, scenario-based assumptions and forward-looking analyses. Additionally, this position will play an integral role in strategy development, associated risk management, and optimization of portfolio performance. They will also mentor developing analytics professionals and connect with other analytics teams to build capability.

The Work Itself

In this role you will help us make data-driven decisions by:

* Independently interfacing with key stakeholders to provide timely and accurate analysis that drive business objectives and targets

* Performs analysis to drive change within the business

* Identify, quantify and propose risk/reward trade-off of recommendations

* Apply knowledge of business and balanced judgment in interpretation of data

* Own and drive detailed end-to-end analysis of trends and drivers within the Auto portfolio

* Leading analytics projects which require technical sophistication and the ability to navigate ambiguity

* Performing ad hoc analysis and quickly provide results and recommendations

* Maintain code logic to produce accurate operational and portfolio-level reports

* Engage in a culture of Diversity and Inclusion

The Skills You Bring

* Bachelor’s degree required in quantitative field - Finance, Economics, Analytics , Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics required

* 3+ years' experience in similar advanced analytics position required; Banking or financial services experience preferred

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Strong business acumen

* Knowledge of financial statements and concepts

* Experience working in cross functional teams

* Considered an expert in area of responsibility

* Knowledge of processes, systems and technology to coordinate implementation of change

* Intermediate technical skills with Excel, analysis, and data software/tools

* Prioritizes day-to-day tasks with longer-term projects while communicating with stakeholders in a fast-paced environment

* Crafts engaging data-driven strategic recommendations to influence decision-makers

* Tailors messaging for different audience

An individual's position in the range is determined by the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. We review internal pay, the competitive market, and business environment prior to extending an offer.
