At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a **Containerization SME** you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on the Containerization SME joining our team to lead the design, implementation, and governance of container-based solutions within our hybrid and on-prem cloud environments. The SME will play a critical role in enabling DevSecOps, CI/CD, and mission-ready application deployment through Kubernetes, Docker, and emerging DoD container technologies.

This position supports the transition to a hybrid multi-cloud model, incorporating VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation), IL5/IL6 capabilities, and future JWCC and Stratus integration.

HOW A SOFTWARE ENGINEER SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

+ Serve as the technical lead for all container-related initiatives across IL2, IL5, and IL6 enclaves.

+ Architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters (VKS, AKS, EKS, or Rancher) and container runtimes (Docker, containerization).

+ Support container security, RBAC, compliance (e.g., STIG, RMF), and image scanning using DoD-approved tools (e.g., Trivy, Aqua, Twist lock).

+ Collaborate with DevSecOps engineers to integrate containers into CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, ADO).

+ Design and support container orchestration for microservices and legacy modernization efforts.

+ Contribute to Zero Trust Architecture enforcement within container workloads.

+ Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members and support ATO documentation.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

+ Required Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

    + Required Technical Skills:

+ Experience in containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

+ Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification

    + Required Skills and Abilities:

+ Experience supporting DoD, IC, or mission-critical environments.

+ Strong understanding of DevSecOps, security hardening, and compliance in container environments.

+ Familiarity with IL5/IL6 cloud environments (Azure IL5, Stratus, or on-prem VMware Tanzu/VCF).

    + Preferred Skills:

+ Certifications preferred: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Docker Certified Associate (DCA), or similar.

+ Experience with platform engineering, Kubernetes-native services (Ingress, Service Mesh, etc.).

+ Familiarity with Cross Domain Solutions, DISA STIGs, and DoD container security guidance.

+ Understanding of hybrid cloud design and cloud-to-cloud migration strategies.

+ Ability to support development teams modernizing legacy apps for container delivery.

+ Ability to teach and expand knowledge to existing workforce.

+ Location: No longer hybrid - must be able to work on site 5 days a week at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL

+ **Security Clearance Level: Secret clearance required, TS/SCI eligibility preferred.**
