Summary This vacancy is for a GS-0802-9-10-11, Naval Architect Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Naval Architecture, Engineering Services Division, Baltimore, MD. Responsibilities Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. You will serve as a Naval Architect Technician, GS-0802-9 and be responsible for: Performing difficult or complex structural engineering designs, drawings, plans, and specifications associated with the construction, modernization, overhaul, conversion, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of vessels. Working in a variety of unique work situations, often aligned with Naval ArchitectureWorks in a variety of unique work situations, often aligned with Naval Architecture. Completing small projects and participating in teams. Working independently on routine tasks and assisting more senior technicians or engineers with larger more complex projects. You will serve as a Naval Architect Technician, GS-0802-10 and be responsible for: Managing small projects and participate in teams as a functional expert. Working in a variety of unique work situations, often aligned with Hull, Structural Engineering, and Naval Architecture. Working with functions such as research, development, design, evaluation, construction, inspection, production, application, standardization, testing, or operation of, structures, weight and boat handling systems, equipment, devices, or materials. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-0802-9 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-8 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Experience portraying engineering and architectural ideas and information through use of engineering drafting to prepare preliminary layouts and sketches for development of new equipment or systems, simplification and improvement of present equipment, or development of new design techniques or methods. Experience assisting the Engineering Project Manager in executing design or other projects as directed. Experience developing Simplified Acquisition Procurement process packages for systems and equipment. Develops Independent Government Estimates, and Procurement Requests. To qualify at the GS-0802-10 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify at the GS-0802-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Experience developing or modifying drawings using CAD software in either 2 or 3 dimensions and completing ship checks to verify system condition and configuration, and correct drawings based on visit results. Experience executing projects in a matrix organization that includes the three Yard Engineering Branches, the Yard Industrial Department, and the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC) Engineering Services Division (ESD), SFLC Product Lines, and occasionally Headquarters Offices. Experience developing Simplified Acquisition Procurement process packages for systems and equipment.
