    Responsible for supervising and managing sterile processing functions at multiple healthcare or surgical facilities. This is a **floating supervisory role** requiring coverage across different campuses, with occasional weekend, holiday, and shift rotations as needed. The individual oversees staff within the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and manages daily operations related to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart picking, and storage. Collaborates with operating room (OR) teams to support process improvements, ensure efficient instrument and supply availability, and maintain professional and regulatory standards.

    Contract Details:

    + **Contract Duration:** 3 months with potential extension through the end of the year.

    + **Pay Rate:** $35–$41/hr.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Leadership and Operations:

    + Supervise day-to-day operations and staff of the SPD, with a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required.

    + Float between different campuses to gain full operational insight and provide leadership coverage.

    + Prepare work schedules and communicate changes to ensure all duties are completed efficiently.

    + Respond to urgent/emergent requests for instruments, supplies, and equipment.

    + Conduct staff interviews, make hiring, disciplinary, and performance management decisions according to HR policies.

    + Schedule and oversee new employee orientation, on-the-job training, and departmental quality assurance programs.

    + Participate in leadership meetings to ensure SPD operations meet or exceed departmental expectations.

    + Assign and adjust daily responsibilities to maximize efficiency and meet productivity metrics.

    + Communicate professionally with staff, clinical teams, and external stakeholders.

    + Handle multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, problem solve, make independent decisions, and foster collaboration across departments.

    Quality Assurance and Staff Education:

    + Lead initiatives to improve SPD functions and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

    + Support equipment repairs, replacements, returns, and loaner equipment transactions.

    + Ensure proper care and handling of all hospital property, including instrumentation, equipment, and disposable supplies.

    + Serve as a resource for OR staff and other clinical teams regarding decontamination and sterilization procedures.

    + Maintain working knowledge of mechanical sterilization and high-level disinfection equipment.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    + Cover all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) as needed for staff absences or emergencies.

    + Participate in weekend and holiday coverage during emergency situations; otherwise, on-call availability is required.

    + Maintain a weekly schedule of **32–40 hours** depending on operational needs.

    + Coordinate with OR teams but not required to perform in-room surgical duties.

    Required Skills & Experience:

    + Minimum of **2 years supervisory experience** in a Sterile Processing Department (CPD/SPD).

    + Experience at **Level I trauma centers** is a plus.

    + Broad knowledge of trays, instrumentation, and sterile processing across multiple clinical services.

    + OR experience or ability to coordinate with OR teams.

    + Familiarity with instrument tracking systems (e.g., Microsystems, SPM, or equivalent).

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    + Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    Education:

    **Required:** High School Diploma or GED

    **Preferred:** Associate’s Degree

    Certifications & Licensure:

    + **Required:** CRCSC (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) baseline certification.

    + **Preferred:** CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader).
