_Our client is a global, research-driven pharmaceutical manufacturer focusing on treatment options for diseases and conditions for which there is no satisfactory treatment option to date. The company is looking for a Solid State NMR Spectroscopist to join the team. This is an amazing opportunity to work on cutting edge treatments and make a difference!_
**Job Title:** Solid State NMR Spectroscopist – Material and Analytical Sciences
**Location:** Ridgefield, CT
**Pay rate:** $48 - $50 / hr.
Position Summary:
This individual will apply advanced solid-state NMR (ssNMR) techniques to characterize pharmaceutical substances and support structural elucidation of various material forms. This role provides exposure to cutting-edge instrumentation and a collaborative environment focused on innovation and scientific excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Acquire and analyze 1D and 2D ssNMR data (¹H, ¹³C, ¹⁹F, ¹⁵N, etc.) for structural investigations.
+ Characterize pharmaceutical solids, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, and excipients.
+ Apply quantitative ssNMR methods to assess component levels in formulations.
+ Use molecular modeling and predictive tools alongside ssNMR and complementary techniques such as X-ray crystallography.
+ Troubleshoot and optimize ssNMR experiments; manage instrument hardware including probe changes.
+ Document experimental work through protocols, technical reports, and internal presentations.
+ Stay up to date with current literature and integrate new approaches into experimental workflows.
Required Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field, with 1–3 years of hands-on experience in solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
+ Proficiency in sample preparation, data acquisition, and interpretation of multinuclear ssNMR data.
+ Experience operating and maintaining Bruker ssNMR instruments, including probe handling.
+ Strong understanding of molecular structure, including hydrogen bonding and conformational effects.
+ Exposure to solution NMR techniques for small molecule analysis is strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills:
+ Familiarity with studying complex or biological systems, including membrane proteins.
+ Experience with molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, Schrödinger, Materials Studio, or CCDC tools).
+ Comfortable working in Linux/HPC environments and with job scheduling tools.
+ Strong laboratory and data documentation practices.
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
_This job description is a complete list of all desired skills, but not all are required. We strongly encourage candidates who have some of the skills to apply. We look forward to a conversation to learn more about you!_
