Scope of Job
To lead, coordinate, evaluate, and maintain all supply chain activities for the assigned area. Responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory control, distribution and lifecycle management of medical supplies and equipment for the assigned areas.
Description of Duties
+ Leads, coordinates, evaluates and maintains all supply chain activities within the assigned centers/facilities and any other medical stocking locations.
+ Responsible for the optimization of the replenishment processes for all medical facility inventory areas managed by procurement.
+ Leads, coordinates and maintains the medical supply inventory system and all its related functions.
+ Responsible for overseeing the receiving, distribution, replenishment, and inventory management of all medical supplies and equipment within the assigned center/facility.
+ Reviews and maintains all inventory levels for the different stockrooms’ safety stock and all other assigned facilities’ stocking locations.
+ Coordinates and facilitates the supply inventory process and ensures proper management controls are followed and in place.
+ Oversees the inventory system and ensures proper access and availability to system is in place for proper accounting of supplies and records to achieve data integrity.
+ Responsible for developing accurate and efficient process integrity initiatives.
+ Is the subject matter expert for medical inventory system.
+ Assesses and evaluates processes in place and makes recommendations to the medical procurement processes, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and purchasing in alignment with institutional guidelines.
+ Collaborates with clinical departments to assess material needs, forecasts usage, and evaluates new products or technologies.
+ Transports and delivers legend drugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug-containing devices relative to core competencies of the position.
+ Fosters a collaborative environment and promotes clinical integration between materials management and the clinical services team members.
+ Supervises the on-site processing, inventory and delivery of all orders.
+ Maintains effective communication with suppliers, team members, clinical staff and the management team.
+ Completes mandatory education week as required, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements, Material Safety Data Sheet ( MSDS and the Occupational Standard and Health Administration ( OSHA ) standards.
+ Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, FDA , OSHA , and other healthcare regulations related to medical materials management.
+ Prepares and provides regular inventory reports as requested.
+ Ensures all purchase orders and materials requests pending notifications are addressed on a timely manner by communicating with departments and vendors on the status.
+ Supervises and provides training to assigned staff.
+ Organizes and executes distribution of surplus medical supply inventory, including managing surplus supplies to other clinical areas. Builds and maintains good relationships with vendors and external stakeholders and attends industry events to stay updated on new products and best practices.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Four (4) years of direct experience in medical materials/supply chain operations in a hospital or health care setting;ora Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and two (2) years of the required experience. Required experience may be substituted for education on a one to one basis.
Preferred Education
Knowledge of inventory management systems at a surgical center.
Licenses/Certifications
As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).
Required Experience
Associate’s degree in Supply Chain or Materials Management or Business Administration.
Preferred Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration field from an accredited university.
Equipment
Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Work is performed primarily in a general office/warehouse/clinical environment. Some travel and weekend work is required. Requires moving, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of boxes and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds when working alone and 100 pounds with assistance. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
