    STARTING SALARY: $1,704.34 Bi-weekly (In accordance with the current spending restrictions, an internal promotion into this position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the currently rate, whichever is higher.)

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

    Provides trainings as approved by Regional Director and requested by the Chief Probation Officer as qualified for which may include the following but is not limited to: Human Trafficking Staff Training (HTST); Suicide Prevention; Detention Risk Assessment Instrument (DRAI); Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ First Aid, Protective Action Response (PAR) or Youth Engagement Model (YEM) direct care trainings. These trainings may be related to Master Instructor, Train the Trainer or subject matter expert trainings provided by the Office of Staff Development & Training (SD&T) or other entities or for adjunct training requirements in order to provide support from the region to the circuits.

     

    Conducts Community Assessment Tool (CAT) & Youth Empowered Success (YES) Plan trainings with staff as well as with any newly developed risk/needs tools, with staff within the region.

     

    Facilitates work plans to address circuit needs related to risk assessment related trainings or other trainings needed by the circuit where there is not an identified trainer. Serves as a liaison to Probation Headquarters and the Programming & Technical Assistance Unit. Assists Program Operations Staff to identify training opportunities for providers as needed. Maintains up to date listings of qualified trainers for all areas in each circuit and identifies training needs.

     

    Provides appropriate consultation and assistance to the Region and Circuit management teams in implementing any YES plan or CAT changes according to policy and procedure as well as discussion of issues or items needing attention that may be related to other trainings. Maintains frequently asked questions for the region related to CAT and YES Plans.

     

    Reviews collateral information if needed to appropriately coach staff related to interviewing youth and families or for administering the CAT or any newly developed tools. Assists staff with on-site coaching and monitoring in the circuit as requested or if there is an identified need approved by the Regional Director in an effort maintain and enhance fidelity.

     

    Works with circuit management to identify training needs. Completes a monthly report due by the 5th of every month for the previous month regarding activities and trainings performed. Attends, participates in Regional and Circuit Meetings to share information. Coordinates planning in consult with Regional Directors.

     

    Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.

    Ability to use desktop computers, including the Microsoft (MS) operating system, and the MS office software suite.

     

    Ability to use Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).

     

    Ability to travel throughout the state on short notice as needs arrive.

     

    Skill in building interpersonal relationships through training, coaching and mentoring others

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Must be currently employed by the Department of Juvenile Justice.

     

    High School diploma at the time of submission of candidate profile.

     

    A valid driver’s license is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ability to organize and interpret DJJ Policies and Procedures.

     

    Working knowledge of Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).

    SPECIAL NOTES :

    This position may require flexibility in work hours, depending on workload.

     

    All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background (state, local and national) and pre-employment drug screening.

If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restricted are acceptable, provided the driver wars corrective lenses while operation a vehicle.
