SUS Mid-Level Engineer
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP. is currently seeking a Mid-Level Small Utilities Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Small Utility Service (SUS) Department in Lakewood CO. The SUS department focuses on providing Owner Engineer and design services to electric cooperatives, and the department includes several employees with past electric cooperative work experience. The department endeavors to have a strong service mindset, and the position provides the opportunity to serve the membership of dozens of electric cooperative systems.
Roles and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. Completion of these functions requires technical competence as well as leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects. This role will provide the opportunity to lead substation, transmission, and distribution engineering project work, including, but not limited to:
+ Develop project work scope documents, budgets, and proposals
+ Complete conceptual design and feasibility studies
+ Prepare construction cost estimates and project schedules
+ Lead engineering design activities
+ Perform design checking
+ Support projects during construction

+ Strong written/oral communication skills in order to communicate professionally with internal team members and clients
+ Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites or conferences
Required Education/Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent technical education
+ Three (3) + years of experience in performing physical and/or electrical substation design, transmission design, system studies/protection, or distribution planning
+ Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
+ Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
+ Professional Engineering license (P.E.) or equivalent in the state of Colorado, or ability to achieve P.E. within six (6) months of hire date
+ Experience performing design for electric cooperatives
+ Experience preparing project work scope documents and sequence of construction plans for projects
+ Experience working at an electric cooperative
+ One (1) + years of experience leading project design teams

Base Salary Range: $109k - $135k
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
