APTIM's Jacksonville, Florida office is seeking an environmental technician to support industrial hygiene projects, environmental site investigations and remedial actions. The ideal candidate is a team player capable of working independently on compliance and environmental projects at various commercial facilities and state/government funded project sites. Duties may include but are not limited to assist project managers in initial asbestos inspections, asbestos abatement and monitoring oversight.
Candidate may also be tasked with environmental site investigations and remedial activities such as installation of environmental soil borings and monitoring wells, collection and documentation of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, installation of environmental remediation systems, implementation of both in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions, underground storage tank installation and removal, and underground storage tank system inspections.
Typical inspection tasks include bulk sample collection for suspect asbestos materials, field verification and documentation and review of laboratory documents. Candidate may also be tasked with final report writing using internal report templates which will be reviewed by senior managers. The candidate will be responsible for asbestos abatement oversight, including interaction with the abatement contractor and/or the client's representative, operation and maintenance of field air monitoring equipment, collection of field documentation, and analysis of air samples by Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
+ Performing building inspections for asbestos-containing materials in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
+ Performing air monitoring and visual inspections during asbestos abatement projects
+ Maintenance and calibration of field monitoring equipment
+ Maintaining quality standards on all projects
Basic Qualifications:
+ 2-5 years of experience
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Organizational and prioritizing skills
+ Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook
+ Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history
+ Required current inspector and supervisor certifications for asbestos and completion of the NIOSH 582 microscopy course (or equivalent)
+ 40-hr HAZWOPER current certificate, or ability to complete the training within one month of hire
+ The ability to obtain a Jessica Lunsford Act badge for work conducted in K-12 facilities
+ Overnight travel, some overtime and weekend work may be required periodically
+ Physical work the ability to lift 40 pounds will be required.
+ Not required, but certification in other IH fields of expertise, including lead-based paint, radon and mold assessments and experience with other environmental sampling such as soil borings and monitoring wells, groundwater sampling, Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments is preferred.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $24.00 to $28.00 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
