LSI currently seeks a Project Specialist to help our Economic Development Department assist clients with wealth and asset building opportunities in Des Moines.
What You'll Do
The Project Specialist ensures that current and prospective clients are presented and assisted with wealth or asset building opportunities at LSI within the Economic Development Department, including managing the scheduling and coordination of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site operation. The VITA program ensures fair and high-quality service to refugee and immigrant clients in filing taxes and capturing earned income, child and other tax credits available to them, and connects to other complementary programs that help build assets. This includes conducting outreach with current and prospective clients across LSI's Economic Development programs. Evening and weekend hours during tax season required.
This position will be required to travel at least one time per month to other sites across Iowa including Cedar Rapids, Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Davenport, Sioux City, Storm Lake and other locations as needed. Some overnights may be required.
What You'll Need
Required: Bachelors degree and minimum of one year of related experience OR Associates degree and 3 years of related experience OR significant experience in the core areas in lieu of minimum education. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate culturally competent social skills and interactions.
Proficiency in multiple languages preferred but not required.

This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
