Description
Scentsy is looking for aStaffAccountantto ensure the accurate costing of inventory and oversee proper handling of inventory transactions, including cycle counts and year-end physical inventories. This role supports the month-end close process, conducts variance analysis, and manages accounting for Excess and Obsolescence (E&O) reserves, while providing guidance to maintain accuracy and compliance in all inventory-related activities.
What You'll Do:
+ Perform monthly analysis of inventory and variance accounts to ensure all inventory-related accounts are reconciled for accuracy and reasonableness on a monthly basis
+ Review, summarize, and report recommendations on inventory, E&O reserve, and gross margin
+ Develop and/or improve upon established policies and procedures to enhance inventory control efforts, including the cycle counting process, scrap process, etc.
+ Become a business partner with the Operations departments
+ Ensure the accurate and timely recording of inventory transactions
+ Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in an accurate and timely manner
+ Ensure physical inventories are scheduled and performed
+ Review cycle count results and validate the effectiveness of the process and results
+ Prepare costed BOM’s from the ERP system with the ability to drill into details and identify any inconsistencies with costs, including freight and duties where applicable
+ Assist with annual audits, domestic and international
+ Apply sound judgment based on accounting principles
+ Produce various schedules in conjunction with financial reporting on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis
+ Review system processes from purchasing to receiving to invoicing to ensure inventory is properly accounted for
+ Maintain confidential and proprietary information
+ Perform all other assigned tasks and requirements as needed
We're Looking For:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
+ 2+ years of finance/accounting experience required
+ 2+ years of cost accounting experience preferred
+ SAP experience preferred
+ Experience in a multi-national company preferred
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), nice to have
+ Keen attention to detail
+ Skilled Excel user, able to create and maintain complex spreadsheets
+ Strong understanding of inventory cost calculations and methods, including Standard Cost, and FIFO / Periodic Unit Price
+ Strong understanding of inventory management controls and practices
+ Excellent data analysis skills
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with all levels within the organization
+ Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work under deadlines
