    Real Estate Sr. Project Manager

    Job Summary

The Real Estate Senior Project Manager (Sr PM) holds oversight responsibility for the execution of Real Estate projects under the general direction of the Real Estate Project Director. This role oversees all phases of project execution—from contract award through closeout for high priority, higher risk projects—ensuring that critical success factors are met, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, environmental and regulatory compliance, safety, communications, security, and systems integration.

The Sr PM oversees a portfolio of ranked projects as defined by the Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) Risk-Informed Ranking Process. Acting as a unifying agent, the Sr PM provides leadership, decision-making, and strategic guidance across all project activities. This includes coordinating internal and external stakeholders, maintaining alignment with PMCoE policies, procedures, and systems, and ensuring delivery excellence from JLL or the Real Estate outsourced service provider in accordance with company standards.

The Senior Project Manager must have the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with individuals across the company, ranging from individual contributors to leadership.

    Responsibilities

Oversight of Real Estate’s Outsourced Provider of Project Execution Services. The Sr PM will serve as the primary liaison and oversight authority for all project execution services delivered by JLL or other external service provider(s). This includes ensuring that JLL’s performance aligns with Duke Energy’s strategic objectives, operational standards, financial performance, and compliance requirements.

+ Leadership & Coordination. The Sr PM will lead cross-functional project teams that include JLL personnel, ensuring seamless integration with internal service providers (ISPs), including IT, Telecom, AV, and Security, engineering, construction management, supply chain, legal, EHS, and operations. Contribute to the development of project field guides and process documentation.

+ Process Excellence & Risk Management: The Sr PM will actively promote a culture of continuous improvement by partnering with JLL in collecting and applying lessons learned from past projects, actively managing risks, and mentoring team members for ongoing operational success. Through leadership and collaboration, the Sr PM will help identify process enhancements, share best practices, and ensure alignment with Duke Energy’s project management standards and methodologies. This role is instrumental in fostering a feedback-driven environment that strengthens delivery outcomes and drives operational excellence.

+ Performance Management. The Sr PM will monitor JLL’s adherence to project scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and environmental standards. This includes evaluating deliverables and enforcing contractual obligations.

+ Governance & Reporting. The Sr PM validates JLL contract metrics, oversees project meetings, reviews, and reporting cycles to maintain transparency and accountability. The Sr PM will ensure that JLL provides timely updates and that all reporting aligns with the Duke-JLL contract and PMCoE standards.

+ Strategic Alignment. The Sr PM partners with the Manager of Portfolio Management to ensure that JLL’s execution supports business unit objectives, broader capital planning goals, and annual budgets.

+ Issue Resolution & Escalation. The Sr PM will serve as the escalation point for any performance issues, scope deviations, or stakeholder concerns (i.e. internal service providers, cities, municipalities, permitting authorities, etc.) related to JLL’s delivery or project issues. They will coordinate with functional managers and governance teams to resolve conflicts and maintain project momentum.
