Join our team of curious researchers solving problems related to tax policy, legislation and Revenue operations. The student worker position will assist with tax study and research work, specifically work on the Minnesota Tax Expenditure Budget Report. Tasks include analyzing and updating economic and tax data, creating and developing spreadsheets, and preparing written reports and tables.

This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location.
Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Graduate student in Public Policy, Economics, or a related field that includes quantitative and research training.
+ Indicate on your resume the graduate school you are attending, your major field(s) of study, and the anticipated date of graduation to verify your student eligibility.
(To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker, you must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate program or planning to enroll within three months. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution, you must carry at least six semester credits; if enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with Microsoft WORD and EXCEL.
+ Experience with statistical applications, (i.e. SAS, SPSS, Stata).
+ Communications skills to respond orally and in writing to a wide range of technical questions.
+ Applicants must possess quantitative and critical/analytical thinking skills and should be familiar with doing research, analyzing data and developing reports.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
Additional Requirements
