    Job Summary:

    Responsible for the design, development and integration of complex military combat vehicle mechanical and weapon systems. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Engineering and Design, New Product Engineering. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility and the requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Essential Functions:

    + Ability to develop subsystem and component specifications derived from system level requirements

    + Coordinate and prepare system and subsystem performance analyses related to vehicle mechanical and weapon systems

    + Develop requirement specifications, drawings, schematics and ICDs

    + Manage the efforts of major component suppliers to ensure on-time development and delivery of required subsystems

    + Coordinate design development and integration of mechanical and weapon systems working with assigned design staff as well as other multi-disciplinary functions

    + Prepare and present design development status to management and customers

    + Understand/create/review test requirements and plans

    + Support system-integration-lab (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) activities

    + Troubleshoot issues and perform corrective actions

    + Understand/create/Manage project schedules

    + None

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

     

    + Understanding of one or more vehicle mechanical systems including powertrain, cooling, suspension, structures, and auxiliary (fuel, lighting, HVAC, hydraulics, etc.) systems

    + Understanding of vehicle and/or system performance modeling

    + Strong oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to work within CAD based design systems

    + Ability to learn model-based systems engineering techniques

    + High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task

    + Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work on own initiative

    Education:

    + BSc Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive)

    + MSc Engineering desired

    Experience:

    + 3-10 years of relevant experience working with automotive, defense, or weapon systems

    Background Prerequisites:

    + Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Hybrid-electric and/or robotic vehicle experience

    + Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements, US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and acquisition

    + Currently holds or has the ability to obtain SECRET US Defense clearance
