    Job Summary

    The Regional Director of Laboratory Operations reports to the Senior Director of Laboratory Operations. This position will oversee a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, regulatory and compliance activities to ensure the efficient operation of CHS clinical laboratories and compliance with corporate policies. They will blend their technical knowledge of laboratory operations, regulatory and lab safety with strong interpersonal skills to build a collaborative and synergistic environment within each region. This person has a key role in setting and executing corporate strategy, including developing and overseeing the creation and execution of laboratory strategies and policies, including budget planning, project delivery and people development. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategic planning, oversight of daily operations, delivery of cost effective services, establishing and meeting a budget, regulatory compliance, and corporate standardization of processes, policy and procedures.

    Essential Functions

    + Coordinates with Corporate laboratory leadership to provide assessment and consulting services to Region and Facility leadership for CHS facilities.

    + Communicates the Laboratory Services initiatives effectively throughout all levels of the organization and represents the Service Line in professional manner.

    + Assists in implementing best practices regarding laboratory quality and operations.

    + Continually monitors and stays abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting laboratory services.

    + Evaluates the capital equipment needs for the labs and makes responsible recommendations for procurement including optimization of market based contracting and adherence to HPG contracts.

    + Knowledgeable and capable of working with key stakeholder groups to coordinate activities including other laboratory resources, clinical informatics, medical director (pathology), Performance Improvement, laboratory leaders, Supply Chain, etc.

    + Leads the development and training of a team of high functioning laboratory directors.

    + Takes initiative to develop steps and processes in an effort to proactively identify areas of opportunity.

    + Resolves any clinical quality/operational/financial issues in a timely manner.

    + Interacts on a regular basis with Region and facility leadership to ensure their services and clinical operations needs are met.

    + Participates in reference testing vendor selection and utilization.

    + Implementation of laboratory test ordering, facility test menu, and equipment platform formularies, as well as other Laboratory Service objectives.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + Complies with all policies and standards.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field required

    + MBA, MHA or related professional degree preferred

    + 8-10 years of progressive experience in a clinical laboratory (hospital preferred) required

    + 7-9 years of experience as Laboratory Director or above required

    Licenses and Certifications

    + MLS - Medical Lab Scientist (Formally MT Certification) ASCP or equivalent required
