Job Summary and Qualifications

+ Demonstrates knowledge in occupational health and safety regulations and requirements

+ Demonstrates knowledge and application of Patient Care Standards, Standards of practice, regulatory agency standards, and institutional policies and procedures

+ Knowledge of the basic infection Prevention principles, including asepsis, epidemiology and principles of sterilization, disinfection and sanitation

+ Demonstrates knowledge of the cause and prevention of communicable diseases

+ Acts as a resource to hospital, medical staff and community for employee health and safety issues

What qualifications you will need:

+ EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Public Health, or Laboratory Medicine. Minimum of two years clinical experience. Preferred: BSN, MSN, or MPH; Experience in Infection Prevention and Control including use of analytical, computer, teaching, and research skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish is required. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Required: If license as a RN, must be currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. FT/PT/PRN colleagues with a compact license from a state other than Texas must: • apply for Texas RN license within 60 days from hire • obtain current TX RN license within 6 months of application for TX RN License or MT license if graduated with a degree in Laboratory Medicine. No license required if graduated with Public Health degree.
