Job Description
Position Summary
Lead the identification, development, and qualification of materials for both new and existing medical products, ensuring alignment with performance, regulatory, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize materials for medical devices.
Identify and qualify alternative materials and suppliers to:
Ensure continuity of supply.
Achieve cost efficiencies where feasible.
Provide technical guidance on material selection, characterization, and processing.
Troubleshoot and resolve material-related issues across design, manufacturing, and post-market feedback.
Author and maintain critical documentation including specifications, test methods, protocols, and technical reports.
Stay abreast of emerging material technologies and industry trends to inform innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Fields of Study: Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
Technical Expertise:
Experience with materials such as polyurethane foams, plastics, silicones, polymers, adhesives, composites, and select metals and ceramics.
Familiarity with characterization and imaging techniques; experience working with independent testing laboratories.
Knowledge of FDA and ISO regulations for medical devices, particularly ISO 10993.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of biocompatibility and sterilization processes.
Experience with modeling software, CAD tools, and AI-based analysis.
Work Environment & Conditions
Full-time position based primarily on-site.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Exposure to office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments; occasional travel to vendors and external meetings.
No supervisory responsibilities; ideal for candidates seeking a technical career path.
Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr.
