Job Title: Project Field Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Field Coordinator to support the Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) Program. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant vegetation maintenance along utility rights-of-way. The Field Coordinator will oversee contract tree crews, conduct field inspections, and serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders, contractors, and property owners.
Responsibilities
+ Monitor contract tree crews performing vegetation maintenance on transmission and distribution corridors.
+ Conduct daily field inspections of overhead and underground infrastructure, including substations and rights-of-way.
+ Identify and document vegetation encroachments, hazardous trees, and compliance with clearance standards.
+ Enforce safety protocols, including ANSI Z133, OSHA regulations, and company-specific vegetation safety standards.
+ Conduct Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and ensure proper use of PPE and specialized equipment.
+ Investigate and report any vegetation-related outages or safety incidents.
+ Serve as the primary field contact for vegetation contractors, landowners, and utility customers.
+ Coordinate permitting, customer notifications, and access logistics for vegetation work.
+ Communicate updates and issues to internal teams and leadership.
+ Maintain accurate records of inspections, crew performance, and vegetation conditions.
+ Use digital tools (e.g., tablets, GIS platforms) to log field data and generate reports.
+ Support storm damage assessments and emergency vegetation response.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
+ Prior experience in utility vegetation management or electric power delivery systems is highly desirable.
+ Familiarity with regional vegetation and the ability to identify tree species and invasive plants.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency in digital field tools (e.g., GIS, iPad-based inspection apps).
+ Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and navigate uneven terrain in varying weather conditions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) principles.
+ Experience with herbicide application standards and mechanical clearing methods.
+ Understanding of utility infrastructure, including pole lines, substations, and transmission corridors.
+ Ability to interpret and apply vegetation clearance specifications and safety bulletins.
+ Experience in construction management, project management, vegetation management, right of way clearance, construction inspection, construction, installation, and underground construction.
Work Environment
This is a field opportunity located in Montgomery, Alabama - Southern Division, with a radius around Montgomery of about 90 minutes. This position provides a great opportunity for entry into a leading IOU in the Southeast, creating value for future opportunities within the utilities field. The role offers long-term stable contract support and potential for advancement within the industry.

This is a Contract position based out of Montgomery, Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
