    Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description

     

    In this role, you will spend approximately 80% of your time on the shop floor interacting with various functions, and the remaining 20% in the office. You will play a crucial role in working with the Maintenance team to ensure proper documentation, design, and maintenance schedules are saved in the system. Additionally, you will assess the need for spare parts, obtain quotes, and maintain a detailed file per machine.

    Responsibilities

    + Collaborate with suppliers to obtain training videos, documentation, pictures, and develop a process for reteaching robots, including creating step-by-step manuals for failure modes.

    + Work with vendors to install automated cells and torque robots onto the production line, requiring experience in automated workstation and torque robot installation.

    + Engage with plant stakeholders to implement changes on the shop floor, optimizing process flow and layout.

    + Conduct time and motion studies, develop standardized work, estimate manpower, and create standard data.

    + Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance process efficiency, flow, and plant layout.

    + Resolve open issues in collaboration with OEMs and follow through on PPAP approvals.

    + Provide engineering support for material flow process documents, standards, procedures, and training as required.

    + Coordinate installation activities including delivery, rigging/mechanical, utilities, commissioning, and runoff qualification (CPES requirements and process capability) in collaboration with OEM and RMEP.

    + Develop and update process flow charts, PFMEA, safety documents, and control plans as needed.

    + Support manufacturing process planning, create standardized production procedures, and document work instructions and revision drawings.

    + Design safety systems and efficient system layout for manufacturing environments, utilizing plant layout, ergonomic, and workstation design principles.

    + Conduct detailed design reviews and approvals, including tooling.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering and process improvement.

    + Experience with assembly processes, automotive manufacturing, and automation installation.

    + Proficient in lean manufacturing principles.

    + Proven ability to optimize plant layout and process flow.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Expertise in process engineering, plant layout, and process flow.

    + Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and vendors.

    Work Environment

    The position is based onsite at an engine plant currently undergoing expansion. The role requires travel to vendor locations, with expenses covered. Availability for overtime and weekend work is necessary, and the candidate must be open to working off-shifts at times.

    This is a Contract position based out of Whitakers, North Carolina.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $48.00/hr.
