Description

We are looking for a dedicated Collections Specialist to oversee student account receivables for a higher education institution in NE Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This role focuses on managing overdue accounts, collaborating with students and families, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and government regulations. The ideal candidate will excel at balancing financial responsibilities with a student-centered approach.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor overdue student accounts related to tuition, housing, and fees, ensuring timely follow-up.

• Develop and administer payment plans in alignment with university guidelines.

• Collaborate with internal departments and external collection agencies to resolve outstanding balances.

• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all student account activities and communications.

• Prepare monthly reports highlighting delinquent accounts and collection efforts.

• Enforce institutional policies regarding registration holds, transcript restrictions, and financial clearance.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations related to student accounts.

• Educate students and families on financial responsibility and payment options.

• Recommend accounts for write-offs or legal actions based on established procedures.

• Assist the Student Account Services team during peak periods by processing payments and completing end-of-day tasks.

Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in collections or a related financial role.

• Strong knowledge of commercial and consumer collections processes.

• Familiarity with student financial aid and loan programs.

• Proficiency in managing billing and collection activities in higher education settings.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with students, families, and external agencies.

• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.

• Understanding of compliance requirements for federal, state, and institutional regulations.

• Experience with financial or student account management systems is preferred.
