    Job Posting: High School Equivalency Substitute teacher for the GED (General Educational Development Test)

     

    + Morning sessions: Monday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

    + Evening sessions: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

     

    (Substitute assignments vary; teachers may choose whether to accept each opportunity.)

     

    Job Description: The Great Neck Adult Learning Center is seeking a qualified and dynamic instructor to provide GED (High School Equivalency) instruction to adult learners on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will be capable of delivering engaging, student-centered lessons across the core GED subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. Instruction should be tailored to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of adult students in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

     

    Start Date: October 2025 Compensation: $49.19 – $50.19 per hour (depending on assignment)

    Job Qualifications

    Requirements:

    + MUST hold a valid New York State Teaching Certification (Grades 7–12) in one or more of the following subject areas: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies.

    + Strong communication and classroom management skills.

    + Experience working with adult learners preferred, but not required.
