    Veterinary Teaching Hospital

    At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ) we exist to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.

We’re looking for aBiosecurity Operations Coordinator – Infection Prevention & Controlto be the heartbeat of our system’s safety. In this role, you’ll champion protocols that keep our patients, staff, and community safe, ensuring that every paw print and every person who walks through our doors is protected.

     

    You’ll be part investigator, part educator, and part problem-solver—collaborating with clinicians, technicians, and staff across our Veterinary Health System to create a culture of biosecurity. If you’re passionate about infection prevention, energized by teamwork, and ready to make a difference every single day, this role is for you!

     

    The Biosecurity Operations Coordinator supports the Small Animal VTH (SA VTH ) by managing biosecurity protocols and compliance through practical workflows. This position works collaboratively to translate Biosecurity approved protocols into clear, applicable procedures for daily clinical use. They provide ongoing training to staff, students, interns, residents, and faculty in the SA VTH , while managing expectations in the isolation unit and liaising with Biosecurity and Occupational Health. This position develops and maintains workflow expectations for the SA VTH’s isolation units and serves as a liaison between the SA VTH and Occupational Health regarding PAPR equipment, rabies vaccination compliance, and staff training records. The position supports all SA VTH units, including Environmental/Custodial Services, in implementing and refining their biosecurity strategies, monitors compliance, reports findings to department supervisors/managers for accountability tracking when procedures are not followed. This role will provide educational opportunities, , responsible for maintaining rabies vaccination and PAPR tracking, conducting audits, identifying trends, and supporting hospital and main campus partnerships on waste and regulatory compliance. This position is expected to evaluate infection control tools for usability and efficiency while balancing budget considerations. Their primary mission is to protect patients, staff, and the broader community through practical and sustainable biosecurity measures.

     

    The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

     

    A combination of signing bonus and relocation expenses may be considered for successful and eligible candidates.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Associate’s degree from an accredited veterinary technology program OR degree in veterinary medicine, animal health, epidemiology, zoology, or related field.

    + Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in infection prevention, veterinary clinical settings, or related safety roles.

    + Ability to communicate and train effectively across various levels of learners and professionals.

    + Strong understanding of PPE , biosecurity procedures, and zoonotic disease transmission.

    + Experience in recordkeeping, auditing, and compliance tracking.

    + Capable of working independently within a fast-paced and dynamic clinical setting.

    + The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    + Credentialed veterinary technician ( RVT , CVT , LVT ) or advanced degree in biosafety, public health, or infection control.

    + Previous experience in a multi-service veterinary hospital.

    + CIC® certification or equivalent infection prevention credential. If not CIC certified, the requirement would be to have this completed within 6 months of date of hire

    + Familiarity with occupational health procedures and exposure protocols.

    + Experience overseeing PAPR programs and rabies vaccination compliance.

    + Strong data analysis and reporting skills for infection control trend monitoring.

    + Ensure policy implementation includes clear education and accessible resources across all shifts.

    + Verify adoption of new workflows through direct observation and feedback from floor staff and supervisors.

    + Collaborates with Central Supply/Sterile Processing to evaluate instrument decontamination and ensure biosecurity protocols are maintained throughout sterile processing.

    + Coordinate support from other units when needed for high caseloads or complex patients.

    + Audit adherence to workflow expectations and communicate any gaps to the shift lead or supervisor.
