Responsible for providing surgical assistance in the operating room under the direction of a registered nurse or other designated operating room supervisor and assisting with departmental support activities following hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care.

Responsibilities:

* Prepares and sets up operating room.

* Assists surgical team during operative procedures.

* Performs terminal cleaning of operating rooms between cases.

* Completes and maintains records, reports, and other documentation related to the work, including risk management and performance improvement reports.

* Participates in cost containment and quality assurance programs.

Required:

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or equivalent experience.

* BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).

* Certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Formerly Liaison Council on Certification of Surgical Technologist.

Preferred:

* One year of surgical technologist experience.
