Job Description Summary:
The Vice President of Facilities and Design & Construction provides strategic leadership and oversight for all healthcare facility planning, construction, renovation, and maintenance activities across the organization. This executive role ensures that all physical environments support clinical excellence, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and long-term operational sustainability. The VP partners closely with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to align infrastructure with the evolving needs of patients, providers, and the broader healthcare system.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Strategic Planning & Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities master plan aligned with the organization’s clinical and operational strategy.
Lead capital planning and prioritization for new construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
Serve as a key advisor to the executive team on real estate, space utilization, and long-term facility investments.
Healthcare Construction Management
Oversee all phases of healthcare construction projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific codes and regulations (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, ADA, ASHE).
Manage relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Facilities Operations & Compliance
Direct the operations and maintenance of all inpatient, outpatient, and administrative facilities.
Ensure a safe, clean, and healing environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Implement best practices in energy management, sustainability, and preventive maintenance.
Team & Vendor Leadership
Lead a multidisciplinary team of facilities, engineering, construction, and project management professionals.
Establish performance metrics and accountability systems to drive operational excellence.
Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
Risk Management & Emergency Preparedness
Ensure all facilities meet life safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness standards.
Lead facility-related components of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
