JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Machining Set-Up is responsible for establishing, documenting, and maintaining the optimum machining and peripheral equipment settings and adjustments necessary to produce quality parts in accordance with control plans and production requirements.
Reports to: CNC Machining Supervisor / Manager
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
+ High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
+ 2+ Year degree in an engineering-related field preferred
Experience
+ 2 to 4 years of experience CNC machines and mechanical tools

+ Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
+ Highly organized.
+ Demonstrate strong attention to details.
+ Able to work independently and in a team.
+ Must be able to communicate in English.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Troubleshoot difficult machining problems and assist other setup personnel in solving problems.
+ Participate in root-cause analyses.
+ Sample new tools.
+ Define by analysis and experimentation the optimum setup of new and existing jobs including: speeds and feeds, tool geometry, ergonomics and work cell layout, optimal toolpath, coolant flow and direction, part packaging, error proofing, tool life management, short setup time, short cycle time, and low scrap.
+ Produce detailed documentation of processes. Verify that documented processes are statistically capable.
+ Use micrometers and other types of gaging.
+ Initiate reviews of existing processes and search for and implement continuing improvements.
+ Train various machining personnel on basic principles of machining, equipment setup, troubleshooting, use of setup sheets, and quality systems procedures.
+ Assist Tooling Engineer in making design decisions on new jobs, including machine selection, part orientation, fixturing points, clamping strategy, tools required to achieve finishes and tolerances, etc.
