Summary:
The System Director Clinical Practice Management & Practice Operations Primary Care is responsible for the overall system-wide quality coordination, integration, growth and advancement of the employed physician services within the Primary Care practices and shall provide direct leadership and oversight. This includes the oversight of the practice management function of the physicians employed through Catholic Health (CH) and/or its captive PC. The System Director shall provide direct management and oversight of operations of hospital based provider practices as well as Catholic Health and Trinity Medical WNY practices as assigned. The System Director shall address and resolve all issues pertaining to practice operations in accordance with established budgets and policies and procedures. Shall demonstrate visibility and build trust among all team members; manages human resources of the practices; promote the use of information technology and systems; participate in development goals; establish and maintain budgets for practices; implement new clinical and other programs; integrate newly acquired physician practices; and complete other duties as assigned. The System Director develops a clinical support staff plan, and provider on-call and hospital services coverage schedule that is equitable and meets the needs of CH and the Hospital Based providers. In conjunction with the CH Finance and Budget colleagues, the System Director develops the annual capital and operating budgets for areas of responsibility, and manages the practice to meet or exceed budgeted performance expectations. Variances to revenues and expenses MTD and YTD will be noted and explained, and appropriate forecasting provided to Physician Enterprise Leadership on a monthly basis. The System Director shall collaborate with revenue cycle leaders and managers to demonstrate excellence in revenue cycle performance and timely reporting to providers and System leaders. The Director shall address and resolve all issues pertaining to practice operations in accordance with established budgets and policies and procedures and shall demonstrate visibility and build trust among all team members; promote the use of information technology and systems; participate in development goals; collaborate with development of new clinical and all quality incentive programs; integrate newly acquired physician practices; and complete other duties as assigned.
Critical to the success of this role is working collaboratively with Administration (Catholic Health and Captive, PCs), Hospital Administration and Medical Leadership to effectively maximize efficiency of operational and clinical components of patient care to referred specialists as well as Imaging Services, Emergency Services and Medicine as well as responsible for forging all relationships to streamline triage and care of patients.
The System Director will be accountable for the financial and quality performance, market share growth, progress assessment, and evaluation activities for the employed practices. As such this position encompasses the continuum of care and includes direct-indirect and matrix relationships, involvement in the assessment and impact of the in hospital and post hospital course of care for admitted patients.
The System Director will also be responsible for analyzing current practices within the Physician Enterprise and developing plans to streamline operations for greater efficiency, cost reduction, patient and staff satisfaction. Position also organizes, coordinates, and manages teams across various departments to work towards improving departmental objectives, operational efficiency, and achieving the organizations' mission. He/She will manage data reporting and integrity for all improvement initiatives including developing and tracking metrics and standardizing reporting where possible. He/She will apply best practices in all aspects of operations and will support the core function of the Physician Enterprise team in standardizing and optimizing ambulatory workflows using innovative protocols for increasing patient access, improving the patient experience, and leveraging technology for ambulatory care.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or other related field of study
+ Preferably MBA, MHA, MSM, or MSHA
EXPERIENCE
+ Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing in a clinical or practice setting, or other related healthcare setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
+ Must have knowledge of operational practice management, finance, regulatory and reporting requirements
+ Strong knowledge and experience working in physician practice operations, recruitment, operations, financial management, marketing, coding & billing, and regulatory standards
+ Knowledge of medical practices and reimbursement policies
+ Accomplished at establishing trust, developing strong working relationships with a range of audiences including executives, managers, physicians, business leaders, academic and community professionals
+ Demonstrated change management skills in a complex environment
+ Demonstrated track record of success in financial performance and success in a clinical setting, including significant P&L responsibility, strategic market share growth and revenue enhancement opportunities
+ Clinical Experience in Hospital Based preferred
+ Strong financial, analytical and data analysis skills
+ Knowledge of NYS Department of Health Regulations
+ Knowledge of Joint Commission Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations required
+ Knowledge of computer systems and applications
+ Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making
+ Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with physicians, administrators, patients, and associates
+ Ability to function effectively within a team
+ Ability to create an atmosphere which encourages motivation, innovation, and high performance
WORKING CONDITIONS:
