Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join a dynamic and fast-paced team in Palo Alto, CA. The successful candidate will play a critical role in assisting clients with tax preparation, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, and optimizing client outcomes through accuracy and insight.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Tax Preparation: Prepare and file individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns accurately and on time.

+ Client Communication: Interact with clients to gather necessary financial information, understand tax needs, and resolve questions or concerns.

+ Tax Research: Stay updated on changes to tax laws and regulations, providing informed advice to clients on how updates may influence their financial and tax status.

+ Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and filing deadlines while reducing potential risks of audits or penalties.

+ Calculations and Documentation: Perform detailed calculations, maintain accurate records of tax filings, and compile supporting documentation.

+ Advisory Support: Provide basic tax planning guidance, identifying potential savings opportunities or credits to help clients optimize their tax positions.

+ Software Utilization: Use tax preparation software effectively to file and manage returns. Proficiency with tools such as QuickBooks, Excel, and commonly used tax software is preferred.

+ Team Collaboration: Work closely with other accounting and finance professionals to provide seamless service to clients.

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is a plus.

+ Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of recent tax preparation experience, preferably in a public accounting or professional services setting.

+ Technical Skills: Proficient in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Excel. Experience in using Intuit ProConnect, Lacerte, or similar programs is advantageous.

+ Knowledge: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and forms for individuals and businesses.

+ Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational and accuracy skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and multitask in a high-demand environment.

+ Customer Service Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients in a clear and concise manner.
