    DESCRIPTION

    About the Position

     

    As an integral member of our public safety team, the Investigator will support Deputy District Attorneys across Criminal, Family Law (Child Support Enforcement), Juvenile, Death Investigations, and Victim Services divisions. You will play a pivotal role in case preparation, investigation, and courtroom readiness—championing accountability, integrity, and justice for our community.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Collaborate with Deputy District Attorneys and law enforcement to evaluate and prepare cases for trial.

    + Plan and conduct thorough investigations in areas such as public corruption, major fraud, missing persons, or estate and child support enforcement.

    + Assist with or perform arrests, serve subpoenas and warrants, transport detainees, and provide courtroom and courthouse security.

    + Develop exhibits and trial materials that meet evidentiary standards and clearly support legal strategy.

    + Locate and coordinate the appearance of witnesses, experts, or uncooperative parties—ensuring their testimony is accessible and preserved.

    + Analyze records, affidavits, and statements; collect, preserve, and document physical and digital evidence consistent with rules of evidence.

    + Draft or support filing of search warrants and reports, summarizing findings clearly in written form for legal review and court use.

    + Testify in court or before grand juries as needed, presenting findings professionally and accurately.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Training and Experience

     

    + Five years of education and/or experience in criminal justice, criminal law, social work, or a related field, including three years of responsible experience in conducting investigations.

    Licensing Requirement:

    + Valid Oregon Driver’s License by the time of appointment.

    Special Requirement:

    + A comparable level of training and experience necessary for at least intermediate certification as a Police Officer by the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training may be necessary in some assignments.
