    Job Description

    BAE Systems is searching for a Chief Engineer/Solution Architect (CE/SA) to work on a high profile and mission driven program for our Government customer. The role involves leading the design and implementation of complex, end-to-end IT solutions and serving as an embedded technical resource on the program.

     

    The Chief Engineer/Solution Architect (CE/SA) leads the design and implementation of complex, end-to-end IT solutions. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring robust, scalable, secure, future-proof on-program technical solutions. As an embedded technical resource on the program, the CE/SA is dual-hatted and responsible for on-program technical performance and delivery of proposal solutions.

     

    + Serves as a core technical subject matter expert in architecture, integration, operation, and sustainment of enterprise IT systems including both on-premises infrastructure (networks, computing, storage, desktops) cloud-deployed systems (including hybrid cloud and multi-cloud), and edge systems (mobile devices and tactical compute) for an intelligence customer

    + Responsible for translating business requirements into effective technology strategies, leveraging technical expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.

    + Oversee technical teams and lead proposal engineering teams following best practices in both on-program technical execution and proposal solution development, with a focus on hands-on experience with architecture & integration, including end-to-end solution design, API integration (REST/SOAP), data modeling, and system interoperability.

    + Oversee solution implementation, ensuring compliance with Government architecture, security, and organizational goals, and evaluating on-program technical successes/challenges to recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools for adoption by the Government.

    + Participates in early phase marketing, such as concept development, white paper generation, and directed research, and works closely with stakeholders in the Government, on program, and in the business organization to ensure solutions meet current and future requirements.

    + Foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation, and lead workshops and new projects within the sponsor space.

    Required Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Track record of leading engineering teams and delivering complex, enterprise-grade solutions in classified environments

    + Deep technical knowledge across several domains (cloud, app dev, networking, security) and ability to translate into winning solutions

    + Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

    + Experience working in agile environments, with cross-functional teams, at all levels of the government and business organizations

    + Experience supporting enterprise IT efforts, leading a diverse team of technical and operational specialists, and involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions.

    + Knowledge of principles, current industry and government standards, and state of the art technologies for networking, storage, processing, and cloud systems, including multi-cloud

    + Knowledge of standard practices for operation and sustainment of on-prem, cloud, and hybrid enterprise IT including help desk operations

    + Experience with ITILv3 and ITILv4 processes and solutions

    + 5 years of experience with Government proposals including technical solution development

    + Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

    + Demonstrated ability to decompose complex system and software requirements into easy to understand solutions with clear value propositions.

    + Knowledge of security engineering, cybersecurity, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes

    + Demonstrated experience developing successful Enterprise Architectures and IT solutions.

    + Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of government (customer) or corporate management (company) to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements.

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

    + Relevant certifications:

    + AWS Certified Solutions Architect

    + Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and win complex opportunities with the Federal Government. Should have led winning proposals with total contract value on individual deals over $75M.

    + Experience with application and data migration from on-prem to cloud deployments

    + Knowledge of software development, containerization, and automated DevSecOps pipeline tools

    + Knowledge of system development methodologies including requirement engineering, configuration management, technical baseline management, cost estimating and analysis, and decision support methodologies

    + Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, including scope, cost and schedule, and resource management, including Earned Value Management

    + Experience collaborating across organizations and OEMs, participating in industry forums and conferences, writing and presenting technical papers

    + Agile Certification

     

    Pay Information

     

    Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630

     

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
