**University of Washington Tacoma’s Office of Equity and Inclusion** seeks out and engages cross-campus, community, and UW tri-campus partnerships to lead visioning, programming, and professional development that promote and model the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. The Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is led by the Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion and oversees the Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI), led by the CEI Director.
**The Center for Equity and Inclusion (CEI)** currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Support Supervisor 1 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv) to join their team.
The Program Support Supervisor contributes to the mission of equity and inclusion by maintaining organization supporting programs, supervising students, and building collaborative relations on campus. The Program Support Supervisor supervises student staff involved in the performance of duties associated with CEI and assists in the development of campus event programming. With delegated authority from the Director of the Center for Equity and Inclusion, they interview and recommend selection of student applicants, train new student employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action. Under general direction from the Director of the Center for Equity and Inclusion, they perform work using knowledge and experience specific to the program; assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating CEI daily operational policies; lead the coordination of CEI marketing and communications; devise and implement new program planning procedures and manage the annual calendar of events; and develop information to support budgetary requests and project income and expenditures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Support Supervisor:
+ Hires student staff, establishes performance standards, evaluates job performance, provides training, creates schedules and approves timesheets, ensures accuracy, recommends corrective action.
+ Maintains detailed event budgets and spending plans, and tracks expenditures in a timely manner.
+ Supervises student assistants to include planning of projects, events, shift coverage, scheduling, and training development. Ensures staff coverage for the Center for Equity and Inclusion during hours of operation and occasional evening or weekend events.
+ In partnership with the CEI Director, contributes to the development of the Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) budget in accordance with UW and State policies and guidelines.
+ Schedules quarterly and annual standard DEI trainings; develops and coordinates signature programs such as Fall and Winter New Student Welcome Receptions and the Spring graduation celebration.
+ Coordinates with the CEI team to develop and advertise a calendar of co-curricular programs and events; contributes to the CEI newsletter.
+ In collaboration with the CEI Director provides assistance to the Registered Student Organizations regarding educational enrichment program planning, opportunities, and related policies and procedures.
+ Establishes priorities and ensures deadlines are met using effective time management skills and the ability to execute with accuracy.
+ Collects data and prepares reports that document the program/event outputs and outcomes to assess participants’ engagement and learning.
+ Works with campus partners and other CEI and OEI staff to develop cultural awareness activities and trainings for students, staff, faculty and community members throughout the academic year.
+ Participates in campus committees and working groups relevant to the work on the CEI.
+ Maintains a flexible work schedule in alignment with the office priorities, including regular office hours and occasional evening and weekend work.
+ Creates, publishes and distributes relevant publications and promotional literature; daily and weekly program announcements using a variety of modes of communication such as, campus email, social media, fliers, campus TV ads, and press releases for CEI programs and services that support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
+ Provides efficient and effective online and in-person communication with students, staff and faculty.
+ Regularly updates the CEI web pages with relevant information, including event details, photos and videos that highlight CEI programs and services. This can also include, but is not limited to, developing links to community resources, campus and community partners, and other appropriate higher education and business/industry websites.
+ Participates in professional development opportunities related to supervision; management; student development and retention; and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
+ Maintains confidentiality; complies with FERPA and other federal policies such as title VI and title XI.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+ High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of applicable experience programming in the field of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
+ Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
+ Demonstrated proficiency in use of technology to support CEI administrative functions (such as Office 365, Canva, Drupal & Mailchimp).
+ Demonstrated success working with diverse student, staff and faculty by applying intercultural understanding and the practices and principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
+ Student supervisory experience.
+ Budget planning experience.
+ Excellent interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated experience with effective time management and simultaneous project completion.
+ Ability to pivot under pressure; Flexible mindset and willingness to learn and work in a collaborative team setting.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in education; ethnic, gender and labor studies; social work; diversity or cultural studies, or related field.
+ Work experience in a k-20 educational setting with diverse student populations.
+ Experience with developing and implementing program assessment tools.
+ Experience facilitating anti-bias in the workplace and equity-minded student leadership training.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$50,916.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$68,376.00 annual
