Job Summary
As an integral member of the research team, the Clinical Research Technician (CRT) will help ensure that clinical research studies supported by the University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center at Mott Children's Hospital are executed in the highest quality and compliant manner.

Responsibilities*
BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
This position may independently provide study coordination for simple and moderately complex clinical research studies. As a member of a coordination team, this position may help support a portfolio of projects with varying levels of complexity. Mastery of all job duties from the Clinical Research Technician position is required.

The Clinical Research Technician is expected to:
+ Process and store biological samples (clinical and non-clinical). Perform nucleic acid isolation, quantification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, etc.
+ Manage computer database of multiple clinical research studies within the biorepository, including many multicenter collaborative studies. Database used for data analysis, data management, and data collection. Complete data collection and data entry. Perform complex data queries from databases.
+ Schedule and maintain equipment and laboratory records and provide laboratory maintenance and accurate record keeping of equipment and reagents to comply with CAP and CLIA regulations. Comply with TempTrak requirements and keep up to date records
+ Oversee day to day operations of project to conduct research projects and data collection/analysis according to plan. This includes leadership of biorepository activities and training/supporting undergraduate personnel.
Required Qualifications*
+ An associate degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is necessary.
+ Minimum 1 year of directly related experience in clinical research and clinical trials is necessary. (Please review SoCRA?s Definition of a Clinical Research Professional for qualifying experience prior to applying.)
or
An advanced degree in a health-related areas such as: Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Clinical Research Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Epidemiology, Foreign MD.
or
Minimum 3 years of human subject experience (clinical, lab or health regulations) such as related patient care, related community health and wellness, related clinical information, and research.
+ Basic computer skills and data entry
+ Strong organizational skills
Desired Qualifications*
+ A bachelor?s degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is desirable.
+ Anunderstanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicate with staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable.
+ Knowledge of human specimen handling and DNA isolation procedures

Background Screening
