    Job Summary

    The Department of Pediatrics and Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology-BMT (PHO-PBMT) at Michigan Medicine and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital are recruiting a full-time academic Pediatric Oncology faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor contingent upon qualifications. In this position, the candidate is expected to provide exceptional clinical care to the pediatric and young adult patients with solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Candidates with a proven track record of clinical research activities are highly desirable. She/He will continue to focus on developing and expanding their clinical research portfolio, either in the form of investigator initiated clinical/translational trials and/or other clinical research activities for tumor/patient population of interest. This candidate will also participate in several ongoing, very exciting divisional research studies as a part of their academic and scholarly activity and participate in the educational activities for the trainees as well as medical students. The division of PHO-PBMT will provide mentorship and other resources to facilitate the candidate's research efforts. You will be provided protected research time and other support in order to initiate your own innovative, investigator-initiated studies.

     

    The Pediatric Oncology, BMT and Neuro-Oncology Program at Michigan Medicine is a quaternary referral center for the state of Michigan and upper mid-western states. Our Pediatric Oncology program sees ~140-150 new cancer diagnoses annually and 60-80 second opinions. Our solid tumor program is to home our inter-disciplinary solid tumor program,M-STOP (https://www.mottchildren.org/conditions-treatments/ped-cancer/solid-tumor-oncology-program) andChad Carr Pediatric Brain Tumor Center (https://medicine.umich.edu/dept/pediatric-brain-tumor-center) . Our Pediatric BMT program performs ~50 Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants annually and ~12-15 CAR-T cellular infusions annually. Our division is home to the state's onlyCOG Phase I, TACL, NANT and developmental Therapeutics Program (https://www.mottchildren.org/conditions?treatments/ped?%20cancer/research/clinical?trials) **,** **CART and other Cellular Therapy program** and state of the artPediatric Precision Oncology Program (https://www.mottchildren.org/conditions-treatments/ped-cancer/precision-oncology) . Our solid tumor division is also home to State's only **High-Dose** **MIBG** therapy center.

     

    Our division has focused basic, translational and clinical research programs in biology of high grade gliomas and other pediatric brain tumors, sarcoma, infant leukemia, neuroblastoma, precision oncology and Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD). Our hematology program's research focuses on genetic basis of coagulation disorder, bleeding disorders of young women, immune-hematology and dimond blackfan anemia. Our research programs have been funded by NIH, DOD, not for profit foundations, Philanthropy and Pharmaceutical industry and boasts 8 endowed professorships.

     

    The PHO-PBMT Program is housed in the state of the artC.S. Mott Children's Hospital (https://www.mottchildren.org) and is staffed by 30 physicians, 9 fellows and 20 nurse practitioners. Our faculty collaborates extensively with other research investigators in theRogel Cancer Center (https://www.rogelcancercenter.org) (a NCIdesignated Comprehensive Cancer Center, adult leukemia, andBMT program (https://www.rogelcancercenter.org/bone-marrow-transplant) ) as well as with UM School of Public Health (https://sph.umich.edu) .

Close interactions with the Schools of Engineering and Pharmacy and with the biotech and pharmaceutical industries facilitate the development of innovative technologies, drugs and drug delivery systems, and enable expeditious early-phase testing of new potential cancer treatments.

    Required Qualifications*

    Candidates must possess and M.D. or D.O. degree, must have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, be board certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and be eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. Proven excellence in clinical care and teaching is required.
