Pratt & Whitney's Cold Section Engineering (CSE) team is growing, and we are seeking a motivated early career Structures engineer to work on military gas-turbine compressors (HPC). This includes rotors, airfoils, cases, and kinematics systems. The selected candidate is expected to provide analytical support to validate the durability and structural integrity of Cold Section hardware.
What You Will Do
+ Provide analytical support for detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
+ Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
+ Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
+ Participate on multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.
+ Coordinate with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
+ Document and present results to management and external customers.
+ Travel Requirements: 10%
What You Will Learn
+ This position is a part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP). EDP participants will complete three to four rotations to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program.
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
+ Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
Qualifications We Prefer
+ Experience in structural analysis with problem solving skills using FEM for stress/deflection and vibration analyses.
+ Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
+ Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas
+ Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience
+ Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance
+ Experience with finite element methods (FEM) and associated software such as ANSYS APDL or Workbench

**Onsite** : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 55,000 USD - 107,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
