    Salary Range: $50.00/hour

     

    Duration: Fall Semester (with the possibility of future semesters)

    Brief Description of Duties:

    SUNY Morrisville seeks candidates for the position of Instructor to teach Wastewater Operator Pre-Certification courses for our Environmental Training Center!

    The instructor shall be responsible for course preparation and teaching the following:

    + Prepare training and teaching materials and appropriate assessments

    + Administering pre-certification courses for Wastewater Operators.

    + Wastewater Operator courses include Basic Operations of Wastewater Treatment, Basic Laboratory Procedures, Activated Sludge Process Control, Grade 3 Supervision and Technical Operations, Grade 4 Management, and a Review Course for the ABC Exam.

    + Managing laboratory safety and operating procedures

    + Supporting off campus tours/worksites to adhere to curriculum

    + Field sampling and preparing BOD analysis for lab experience

    Current Course Schedule:

    October 2025 courses

     

    + Grade 4 Management - 10/15 - 10/17

    + Basic Laboratory - 10/20 - 10/24

    November 2025 courses

     

    + Activated Sludge - 11/10 - 11/13

    + *Day Time Classes

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Required Qualifications

     

    + 3+ years experience working as a Certified Grade 3 (or higher) Wastewater Plant Operator

    + Have a NYS DEC recognized Train the Trainer certification or be willing to complete the online certification prior to teaching course.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

    + Previous experience training or instructing adult students

    + Understanding of Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, and/or Math as it relates to wastewater treatment
