    Description

    The Communications Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing and sustaining partnerships that expand the reach and accessibility of research opportunities to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and advocacy communities. This role implements outreach strategies, organizes community events, and promotes inclusive communication. Travel to outreach sites, events, and conferences will be required.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Consults with management and staff to design, develop and maintain a website.

    + Develops, writes and edits various communications materials including correspondence, newsletters, brochures and articles.

    + Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information.

    + Maintains required record-keeping and documentation.

    + May train staff in the use of communications technology.

    + May utilize various aspects of social media to accomplish work objectives.

    + Performs related responsibilities as required.

    ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

    + Build and maintain relationships with advocacy organizations, clinics, and community partners.

    + Plan and coordinate educational events, presentations, and outreach initiatives.

    + Translate complex research materials into plain language formats for diverse audiences.

    + Maintain outreach tracking systems and produce periodic progress reports.

    + Incorporate participant feedback into outreach practices and study materials.

    + Travel to local, regional, and national events to represent the Program and promote study awareness.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

     

    NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
