Interns will also participate as a team in a Day of Caring community service project.

     

    This is a 10-week summer internship from June 1, 2026 and ending August 7, 2026. Interns will typically work a 5-day workweek at 38.75 hours / week. Interns work with their department supervisor to determine weekly schedules. Interns must commit to the 10-week program for the summer and participate in planned training and activities.

     

    Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college degree program. Must be able to provide own transportation.

     

    _Internship Position Description_

     

    _We are seeking a motivated and innovative Software Engineering Intern to join our Product Engineering team supporting Underwriting and Policy Lifecycle Management. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies including AWS cloud services and AI-driven automation, while contributing to the modernization of our Insurance policy systems including the Guidewire Insurance suite which is in the process of being migrated to the cloud._

    _What You’ll Learn_

    + _Enterprise software development with the insurance industry._

    + _Cloud architecture and deployment strategies using AWS._

    + _Real-world application of AI/ML in software testing and automation._

    + _Integration of third-party data sources into core insurance systems._

    + _Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices._

    + _What’s involved in migrating major systems from on-prem data centers to the cloud._

    _Key Responsibilities_

    + _Be a core member of an Agile Scrum team with other software engineers and technical product managers._

    + _Contribute code to GitHub. Learn how to leverage CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and deployments through various environments._

    + _Work with our business partners and product owners to understand the business requirements and then work with the team to develop solutions._

    + _Collaborate with software engineers to design and implement_ **_AI powered_** **_automated testing frameworks_** _for Guidewire Policy Center and other Policy systems at MAPFRE._

    + _Explore and prototype_ **_testing tools_** _to enhance coverage and efficiency in rating and pricing validation and vendor integrations of 3rd party data._

    + _Assist in the_ **_development of new applications within AWS_** _which will be leveraged by Operations, Underwriting and/or Policy Servicing._

    + _Explore new products and help conduct POCs as needed._

    + _Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and team brainstorming sessions to contribute ideas and learn best practices._

    + _Leverage Jira for all your work within the Agile team. User stories, epics, sub-tasks, etc._

    + _Present your code and solutions during sprint demos / reviews every 2 weeks._

    _Qualifications_

    + _Currently pursuing a_ **_Graduate degree or_** **_Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field_** _._

    + _Familiarity with_ **_Java, Python, or JavaScript_** _._

    + _Exposure to_ **_AWS services_** _(e.g., Lambda, S3, API Gateway) is a plus._

    + _Interest in_ **_AI/ML, cloud computing, and enterprise software_** _._

    + _Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn._

    _Preferred Skills_

    + _Experience with testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Selenium, Postman)._

    + _Knowledge of REST APIs and microservices._

    + _Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)._
