The Education Department at Siena seeks part-time Student Teacher Supervisors to support through observation, coaching, and assessment of student teachers currently enrolled in various teacher preparation programs. Siena has both undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation programs, which place student teachers in both elementary and secondary settings.

Supervisors serve as resources for student teachers and act as liaisons between the University and the field. They offer experienced and objective perspectives on overall classroom effectiveness. This position offers flexibility in scheduling.

Please note this position requires Student Teacher Supervisors to be available to conduct in person observations during the K-12 school day as well as virtually.

Responsibilities include:

+ Observe and gather assessment data on lessons conducted by student teachers in various content areas and at various school sites.

+ Provide oral and written descriptive feedback on a student teacher's execution of professional responsibilities (e.g., lesson planning, lesson implementation, instructional and assessment practices, classroom interactions, maintenance of records).

+ Help the student teacher relate teaching theory to classroom practice (e.g., discuss reasons for selecting materials and methods).

+ Coach student teachers in developing classroom management practices that are consistent, conducive to learning, culturally and linguistically responsive/sustaining, and respectful.

+ Participate in supervisory team meetings to align expectations and practices. (Zoom option provided for supervisors at a distance.)

+ Communicate with the Director of Field Experiences and the Director of the Teacher Preparation Program about student progress across the semester.

Salary $1,333.34 per contact hour

The hiring salary above represent the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.

Job Requirements:

Candidates should have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Education or a related field, at least five years of teaching and/or supervision experience in K-12 settings, and exhibit a commitment to liberal arts education. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant New York and national learning standards required (ex. Next Generation Science Standards, C3 Social Studies Standards, demonstrated knowledge of CR- Part 154 and other relevant NYSED guidelines related to the education of multilingual learners in K-12 settings.) Prior experience as a field supervisor, mentor teacher, or curriculum coach/administrator in K-12 settings is strongly preferred.

A background screening will be required.
